The AH-64 is an attack helicopter developed in the United States in the 1970s as a successor to the AH-1 Cobra. The AH MK.I is an attack helicopter produced under license from the AH-64D for the British Army. Initially adopted by the British Army, it was commonly known as WAH-64, but after formalization, it is called AH MK.I. The AH MK.I has the same basic airframe configuration as the AH-64D, but the engine has been replaced with a higher-output RR RTM332, and the ability to operate on a landing ship has been added.
Israel operates about 20 AH-64Ds with the 113th Squadron, which have been modified independently, with additions such as radar sensors and chaff/flare dispensers added. The Israeli Air Force's AH-64D is nicknamed "Saraf," which means "venomous snake."
