It has been 11 years since we released the model of Team Lotus Type 72D 1972 in 1/12 Big Scale Racing Car Series. With innovative features such as a wedgeshaped body with low-profile nose section, radiators mounted on either side of cockpit, and torsion bar spring suspension system, the Type 72 left the motorsports world in awe when it debuted in 1970 and enabled Jochen Rindt to claim the driver""s championship. The car was refined into the Type 72D for the 1972 season, when its previous red, white, and gold livery was replaced by a striking black and gold scheme.
Young Brazilian driver Emerson Fittipaldi was at the helm and he dominated the season, taking five victories out of twelve races to give Team Lotus both the drivers"" and constructors"" championships.
